Can Astroglide cause irritation?

Astroglide does not contain fragrances, colorings or other ingredients that are common irritants. However, any topical product can cause irritation. If you feel that you may be sensitive to one of the ingredients, test the personal lubricant on a small patch of skin. If irritation occurs, discontinue use. Many people who are prone to skin irritation prefer allergy tested and dermatologist reviewed Astroglide Ultra Gentle Gel or a natural lube such as Astroglide Organix.

Can Astroglide cause a yeast infection?

While some women’s journals cite personal lubricants containing glycerin as a source of yeast infections, this is not true. In fact, some yeast infection cures contain glycerin. However, an existing yeast infection can be made worse by products containing a large percentage of glycerin. This is because the sugars in glycerin act as a food source for the yeast.

Women who are prone to yeast infections may choose to use natural lubricants free from glycerin and parabens, like Astroglide Glycerin & Paraben Free Liquid or Astroglide X Silicone Gel.

Do Astroglide products contain parabens?

Each formula of Astroglide has its own unique blend of ingredients. Our silicone formulas, Astroglide X Liquid and Astroglide X Gel , Astroglide Organix , and Astroglide Ultra Gentle Gel do not include parabens. Parabens are included in some Astroglide formulas to protect against microbial growth, both for consumer safety and to maintain product integrity. The FDA deems them safe and the American Cancer Society says there are no clear health risks associated with parabens in cosmetics. That's why parabens are the most widely used class of preservatives in cosmetic products.
